Featuring a luxurious red-velvet finish, our chair embodies the refined charm of the settee displayed in the Museum‚Aos Verplanck Room, a pre-Revolutionary period room in The Met‚Aos American Wing. Elevate your living space with the timeless appeal and sophisticated comfort of this exquisite contemporary chair. HISTORIC PROVENANCE The Chair Verplanck is inspired by an American-made settee (ca. 1785) exhibited in The Met‚Aos Verplanck Room, a pre-Revolutionary period room in the Museum‚Aos American Wing. These settees, with their high backs and low arms, were designed for multiple sitters, embodying the refined social customs of the time. The original settee is part of the only remaining suite of 18th-century New York City furniture that once belonged to the influential Verplanck family.
